The XLR connector are governed fra the EC 61076-2-103 standard and was invented by James H. Cannon, who was the founder of Cannon Electric in Los Angeles, it was invented around 1950, and is also sometimes called cannon plug or cannon connector, because of the last name of the founder.
The XLR connector is mostly know for the 3 pin type, but can also be found with up to 10 pin.
